02 The Game Plan

Hello Internet,

So, Rich came back with some diagrams to really help us focus on the issues I am dealing with at the moment.

His diagrams actually pinpoint some areas in which I have been experiencing some stiffness and pain – especially in my right thigh and calf.

Fixing the problem

For our next session, we began to strengthen my left side.
Here’s a sneak peek:

I gotta admit, it’s weak. So. Weak.

It’s so frustrating.

I guess that’s what this whole thing is all about.

Here’s to balancing out,

How Do I Fix Me?

It Begins.

It’s difficult to embrace that my body is ageing. Somedays, it’s hard for me to embrace the fact that the degradation of my vessel is an inevitable truth. They don’t call this the DIRTY THIRTIES for nothin’.

My first session with Richard Palfrey, the Body Engineer, began with an in-depth discussion about my life, my history, my eating habits…everything.
Rich took me through a series of weird exercises to find out what ails me.

Left Side

The diagnosis:I’m ALL OUTTA WHACK.

I use my right side SIGNIFICANTLY more than my left.
Bold, Underlined & in Red, in case you missed the emphasis.

This means that everything I do (walking, sitting, standing and lying down) is done out-of-balance. My right side compensates heavily for my left, which means my left side gets incrementally weaker.
That explains the back pain…and the fact that I can’t even crumple a piece of paper with my left hand.
He asked me to stand straight.

Multiply this stress over years and you’ve got yourself hip, back and neck issues.

Rich went through a detailed explanation of what this all means.
His knowledge and understanding of body mechanics and mobility is impressive.
His approach is holistic.
I’m looking forward to balance. I’m not looking forward to sweating.

Here’s to my dirty thirties,
